Health Education To Prevent Obesity

It is no secret that childhood obesity is and ever growing at an alarming speed and that a lot of these obese people are going to suffer as well as the health care system. It is very obvious that the main reason of children being obese is the lack of physical activity amongst the young people these days.

The schools for starters should put more emphasis on physical education to make sure that children are going to be more active physically in school and should carry on their respective homes. But with government budgetary constraints and or the lack of funding of physical education, these programs have gone nowhere.

It is of paramount importance to know learn and know more about healthy diets and healthy eating habits in order to prevent obesity amongst the children. I always believe that the foundation for success in life is being healthy and without that your chances of succeeding in life can be slowed down or worst may not be able to achieve it.

The other biggest culprit in children being unhealthy and inactive physically is the advent of video games and online games as well as computers and the internet. I do not blame these technological advancement as we need this kind of developments to further our visions of comfortable and viable economy but parents should be always be on the lookout for children having too much of sitting with their games and on the internet.

The schools from pre-school kindergarten should teach or incorporate health educations so that it can be instilled in children’s mind the benefits and advantages of being more physically active. It has to be noted the consequence of diabetes if you are overweight.
It is not only to the detriment of the individual person but also a drain on the health care and health insurance industry. If you got sick or ill because of being obese, that is also an addition to the health care cost from drugs to therapies and other remedies to cure or prevent any further deterioration of the illness cause by obesity.

In conclusion, it is of paramount importance to educate ourselves about healthy diet and good eating habits to prevent obesity. It is also incumbent upon every parent to instill and educate their children about the ill effects of obesity and how it affects their lives down the road and to emphasize the cost associated with it.
